Power loss in windings

In FEMM the windings can be represented by explicit wires (each wire drawn separately, each representing single turn) or as a bulk (with number of turns N specified for the whole block).

Windings can be represented by a number of turns

There a number of ways in which the losses in the windings can be calculated or extracted. This paper shows that FEMM returns correct loss values for both types of windings: explicit wires or bulk windings, and the meaning of the integrals as well as the values of Real Power given in the Circuit Properties.

Important note: for the windings defined as bulk it appears that the analytical proximity calculation done in the background of FEMM assumes that the current in each strand is the same, which is more akin to a series connection, and will thus result with different loss than if proper parallel connection was used.
